The maxi single case is a two-piece hinged case for 1 CD.

They are commonly used for CD singles and promotional CD albums. They are the same height and width as a regular jewel case but considerably slimmer (7 mm spine).

The printed paper part for a maxi single is called a J card, a two-page insert that forms a spine for reading the CD when in a rack.
